Giving back to the community is very important for ASCE at AUB, both locally and internationally. The Volunteering Abroad Trip is a chance for students to leave an impact in less developed countries. This year, the trip took place between January 7 and 19, 2019 in the Philippines, during which 60 attendees did volunteering work and toured a number of Philippines’ islands like Negros and Manila. The volunteer work consisted of constructing bamboo houses for the under-privileged in San Carlos and entertaining 100 homeless children which was amusing for both children and attendees. The trip also included a few days of tourism for the attendees who enjoyed visiting multiple temples, flower gardens as well as one of the largest shopping malls in the world. By the end of the trip, 60 attendees and strangers came back to Lebanon as one big family.
