Last January, ASCE at AUB went beyond the limits to make a difference. A group of 60 students packed their bags and traveled to Sri Lanka from the 12th to the 23rd of January to inspire the world. They helped renovate a public school in Ambalangoda, a small village in the country, by painting on the school’s entrance walls and building a new water fountain for the children. In the afternoon, the volunteers visited what were considered after-school centers to teach several groups of children basic English and Math. During their stay, the attendees visited Ambalangoda’s famous temples, Mirissa’s beach, Kandy’s shopping centers, Sigiriya Rock and experienced the country’s nightlife. In order to live the whole Sri Lankan experience, road trips and activities such as rafting, surfing, snorkeling and hiking were also organized. Finally, during these 11 days, ASCE at AUB was able to transform a single thought into an unforgettable experience that left worthy memories.
