Since most students find themselves incompetent in contacting firms for an internship opportunity and not sure which civil engineering field to apply for, ASCE at AUB has been organizing an annual Internship Orientation taking place during the fall semester to help students arm themselves with the knowledge they need to choose the suitable internships. The orientation is a great opportunity for students to hear what senior civil engineering students have to say about their internships, see the projects that they have worked on during the internships, and ask them any question they have in mind. The civil engineering fields covered by the event range from structural design, environmental, hydrology, transportation, geotechnical, construction management, research, and even consulting. This year’s internship orientation took place on October 15, 2018 in ELH. Students attending the event came to a better realization of every field in the major and received the information needed to choose firms to contact and fields to apply for. The orientation wrapped up with students reflecting together over some snacks and refreshments.
