ASCE at AUB held its second AutoCAD workshop over four two-hour sessions between October and November. E3 and E4 students developed their AutoCAD skills and deepened their understanding of the drawing program.
Students were introduced to the basic functions of the program and tackled various modifying tools, which allowed them to manipulate their creations. Building on the knowledge they learned from the first two sessions, the students were then tasked with replicating a typical floor plan.
The fourth and final session proved to be the students’ biggest challenge yet, when the students were provided with detailed structural drawings, complete with frame-works and reinforced concrete components for various structures. After thoroughly going over the contents of the prompt, students were able to read and understand the drawing, so that they could produce their own section view.
